Manchester United midfielder, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has revealed his all-time favourite Premier League player - Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry.
The Armenian star, who netted his first goal in the top-flight in the 1-0 win over Spurs at the weekend, has hailed the Gunners' all-time record scorer as his childhood inspiration.
“I always supported Thierry Henry when he was playing in Arsenal," declared Mkhitaryan, speaking to the Premier League.
"He was one of my favourite players because that time I was also a striker, as a child. Then I became a midfielder."
Mkhitaryan has endured something of a stop-start beginning to life at Old Trafford since his £26million move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
But he has scored in each of his last two games, having appeared to turn a corner and force his way into Jose Mourinho's first-choice starting XI.
Mkhitaryan himself believes there was a need to be eased into things - as he adapted to a new country and a new league - but now says he is ready to make a bigger impact.
“It’s always a pleasure to play. To play for Manchester is a dream. I’m always happy to start the game for this team, I’m always trying to do my best for this team.
“English football is really different from other football countries. If you are playing in Germany, France, in England or Spain, you have to get used to playing in that league.
“In the beginning it was a little bit hard, but then, I keep doing everything that was needed to become a Premier League player. I’ve done the hard work and I’ve tried to do everything the manager is asking from me to play in this team, and to be useful to the team.”
