Mathieu Debuchy is desperate to depart the Emirates after revealing he barely speaks with Arsene Wenger since he blocked a move to Manchester United.
The former Newcastle defender has been plagued by injuries since moving to North London in July 2014 while Hector Bellerin has emerged as the new right-back.
Wenger refused to allow a transfer to Old Trafford last January before he was loaned out to Bordeaux. Summer transfers to Fiorentina and Espanyol also did not pan out.
Now Debuchy, who has played only 16 minutes in the Premier League this season, wants a permanent departure from the Emirates.
“What do I want in the next window? A way out,” said the 31-year-old. “I want a new challenge, to get back involved, just to do my job well. I miss not having the excitement, the adrenaline.
“I had chances at the end of the window. Unfortunately, the club did not want to release me. I had a good pre-season, I gave everything but from the first match, I was not in the squad. That was a real slap in the face.”
Debuchy, who is again sidelined with a hamstring injury, claimed he still could not understand the aborted transfer to join Louis Van Gaal’s team.
“I was not playing much, it was Manchester – there is not much more to say,” he recalled. “For me, it was almost unexpected but the coach said no. It was something that I did not appreciate.
“He was not using me so I don’t see how it was in his interest. It is like that. I don’t want the hassle anymore.
“I would prefer a straight transfer but I am just an employee. If the club says no to me, what can I do?
“Have I asked for an explanation from Arsene Wenger? No, not since last January. Before my loan to Bordeaux, I was often in his office. But since, I have not felt the need, I have not wanted to. We greet each other, we say hello - nothing more.”
Debuchy, who joined Newcastle from Lille in 2013, is now ready to return to France with Bordeaux or Marseille.
“You have to see what presents itself,” he said. “I have a family, four children, that comes under consideration. And that is why, for example, I have not followed up some contacts in Turkey. It is up to me to work my way back to the top.”
