Arsenal star, Alex Iwobi has admitted his newfound fame can be 'crazy' after an unexpected rise into the Arsenal's first team.
The Nigeria international has already made 18 first team appearances this season and provides more balance to the side now that Alexis Sanchez is being used as a centre-forward.
Iwobi has revealed he is regularly approached in public with fans even singing his name, which can be 'difficult' to deal with.
“It was crazy, I was getting worried,” Iwobi told the Independent after a fan followed him walking away from the Emirates and broke into song, 'Iwobi, Iwobi.'
“I had to take a detour, for about 20 minutes. It was a bit too much.”
Iwobi's emergence into the first team is somewhat unexpected with greater excitement surrounding Chuba Akpom, but his development has been a pleasant surprise this season.
Iwobi has become a fan's favourite and admits it was 'mad' and 'funny' when he was buying trainers in a shop when a fan pulled off his trademark goal celebration in front of him.
The 20-year-old takes it all in his stride but concedes it's 'difficult' when he is trying to eat out with friends and is recognised.
“That takes getting used to,” Iwobi adds. “I seem to be like a hero to people, it’s crazy.”
