Petr Cech believes his international retirement will not only prolong his career but that it has improved his performance.
The Arsenal keeper pulled the curtain on his time in a Czech Republic shirt after they finished bottom of Group D at Euro 2016.
The 34-year-old retired as the most-capped player for his country with 121 appearances and last year's Premier League Golden Glove winner says having extra time on his hands during international breaks is a huge benefit.
“You have time to do things that when you travel with the national team you, can’t do,” he told Arsenal.com.
“It means you can do extra sessions, you can combine the things that, during the season when you have a lot of games, might not have a chance to do.
“It’s a new situation for me but so far it has been very positive.”
The numbers don't necessarily back Cech up, with his 16 clean sheets last season not quite matched by the six to his name this campaign so far for the fourth-placed Gunners.
Cech isn't concerned though given the way his side have conceded solitary goals.
In the 10 games Arsenal have conceded in this season, five times it has come from the penalty spot.
“Overall, it is a season in which I am playing at the level I need to be at," he added.
