Manchester City star, David Silva, says he's not "obsessed" with pursuit of Champions League glory

David Silva has never won the Champions League
David Silva says he refuses to get “obsessed” about winning titles – in particular, the Champions League.
Manchester City and Spain playmaker, Silva has amassed an impressive list of honours throughout his illustrious career.
Silva, 31, has won the World Cup and European Championship, as well as the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup with City.
But the one major honour that continues to elude him - and the one he wants to win most - is the Champions League.
Silva reached the semi-finals with City last season, before losing to Athletico Madrid on 1-0 aggregate.
The arrival of Pep Guardiola – who led Barcelona to two Champions League victories - is expected to see City take the next step in their history and conquer Europe.
But Silva, who has two-and-a-half years left on his City contract and remains contented in Manchester, said he cannot afford to get preoccupied about titles – especially the Champions League.
Silva said: "I have been here for an eternity and I am happy. It is vibrant and very demanding football.
"I like lots of things, the competitiveness every weekend. There are lots of good things here and the British fans are amazing.
"But personally, I just try to work day to day - I do not get obsessed with thinking about titles."
Silva has been at City since 2010, joining them from Valencia in a £24million deal, and also has unfulfilled ambitions with Spain, despite having won everything with his country.
Although he has won 109 caps, newly-appointed Spain captain, Silva is still hungry for international success and is refusing to give up hope of helping his country return to the summit of world football.
"I'm always proud to wear the colours of Spain," said Silva. "The truth is that this new phase with them is very exciting.
"We maintain the same motivation with the group and this is what is important in order to do great things and bring more happy moments.
"The most important thing has been in keeping the group united and motivated and this continues.
“What is important is the union of the group and this continues in the same way - so everything is good."
Silva is an ambassador for the luxury hotel resort of Anfi, in his native Gran Canaria, where his mother used to work when he was growing up and dreaming of a career as a footballer.
The City star returns to his homeland whenever he can and recently sponsored a golf tournament – the Anfi Golf Classic - that saw teams from Britain and Europe take part, including Royal Birkdale, which hosts this year's Open.
“It's always an honour to help the Anfi Group,” said Silva. “A hotel timeshare company where my mother worked for many years and which I will always support. Now I have just sponsored the only tournament of golf clubs in Europe.
“An event which has brought to Anfi Tauro around fifteen of the most important clubs in Europe, such as the Royal Birkdale, the London Club, the Ballybunion and the Gothenburg.
“I'm proud to form part of group that is located on the beach, Anfi del Mar, where I played when I was a child and where I always go when they let me. There is no other places in the world like it."
