Arsenal hope their manager, Arsene Wenger, will commit his future to the club before the end of the season.
That is set to happen around March 22 when England play Germany in Dortmund.
It has been widely expected that the debate surrounding Wenger’s future at the Emirates would run until the summer when his 21 years in charge would be reviewed.
The Arsenal board have been clear in their view that they want their manager’s future sorted so they can turn their attentions to contract rebels, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
The belief is that Ozil will agree to stay and sign a contract extension to his current deal that has 18 months to run.
That will leave Sanchez as the remaining outstanding star to extend his contract.
