Jamie Carragher is very, very good at Twitter.
The Liverpool defender turned legendary Sky Sports pundit has become an expert in the art of social media comedy. Abusing Gary Neville? Check. Making fun of Phil Neville? Check. Generally making sure he uses his Scouse wit to mock anyone with any connection to Manchester United? Check.
However, even by the standards of 'Carra''s Twitter banter, this tweet seemed bizarre:
Clearly, there was a gag there. After all, this was a ridiculous notion. The idea of Carragher going to play in China was too absurd to believe.
But then, the Chinese Super League is a league currently attempting to make the ridiculous and absurd possible. So… was Carra coming out of retirement really THAT unlikely?
Well, yes, actually. It turns out that someone else had got into Mr Monday Night Football's account and posted this mischievous tweet.
However, Carra being Carra, he still found a way to turn the Twitter mishap into a bit of comedy gold:
Outstanding stuff, James. Now we are just left with one question.
Who could have got hold of Carra's phone and stitched him up on Twitter?
Hmm…
