Arsenal ace, Alexis Sanchez has not been named in Chile’s squad which heads to the China Cup in January.
The Gunners looked set for a fresh row with the Chilean FA after the Copa America champions confirmed their involvement in the inaugural competition last month.
Sanchez and a lot of Chile’s top stars, though, will not travel with Juan Antonio Pizzi’s team in the new year.
Reports suggest Gunners manager, Arsene Wenger is planning on handing Sanchez a winter break, designed to stop the attacker from fatigue.
The 27-year-old hasn’t had a free summer for over three years, so Chile’s latest squad announcement should come as a great relief to Wenger and the north London club.
However, it’s understood that national sides cannot compel players to leave their clubs in January – so Arsenal could have refused any call-up had it happened.
