Rio Ferdinand reckons Alexis Sanchez's "ego" may keep him at Arsenal.
The Chilean has taken centre stage for the Gunners this season, scoring 11 times and setting up four others.
However, his deal at the Emirates is due to expire in 18 months, and he is yet to agree an extension.
But Ferdinand believes the former Barcelona forward may decide to stay in north London because he likes being the main man.
Sanchez underlined his importance to Arsenal's title charge with a hat-trick in Saturday's 5-1 thumping of West Ham.
Arsene Wenger remains relaxed about the 27-year-old's future, and Ferdinand thinks he will remain with the Gunners.
“It depends what he wants," the ex-Manchester United defender told BT Sport.
“He’s been at Barcelona – he had that opportunity to go to a team that was winning and it didn’t happen for him.
“Here [at Arsenal] he’s the main man, the talisman. He might want that for his ego.”
