A woman who lived on takeaways and drank lager “like it was lemonade” shed an incredible 10st in an amazing transformation that took her from size 28 to size12.
Joanne Hallmark, 45, went from 20st 4.5lbs to 10st 7.5lbs after ditching fast food when she joined her local Slimming World group.
She said she turned her life around after she began suffering from depression and realised her unhealthy diet could ‘kill her’.
So she cut out the nightly takeaways and bags of crisps, bowls of nuts and cheese and crackers - and watched the weight fall off.

Speaking to the Liverpool ECHO, Joanne, from Knotty Ash, said: “Since I was about 16, I’d always been trying all the fad diets but it was never an obese problem until the depression hit.“I shut myself away and pushed friends away. I was just eating and drinking my days away, caring for my mum and dad.
“You get bigger and bigger and stop looking at yourself and stop buying nice clothes.”

The turning point came for Joanne when she started talking to an old school friend online: “He asked me to meet him and I was quite fit in school - I was into my sports.“I wouldn’t meet him and I finally admitted why.”
When Joanne was told by her old school friend that she was the only person who could help herself she decided it was time to make a change: “It was what I needed because I thought what are you going to do with your life? Just get bigger?
“I thought when mum and dad die and the dog goes, I’m next - I couldn’t see a life.”
Joanne started attending Slimming World in West Derby with Marji McEvoy, who would open up early so that Joanne could go on her own to be weighed. Marji’s support was absolutely crucial in helping Joanne change her life.

Joanne said: “My dad is so proud of me. The other day he gave me a hug and said ‘I used to cry myself to sleep thinking I was going to bury my daughter.’ I’m so glad I’ve managed to turn the corner.”
The weight loss has completely changed Joanne’s life, and she says she now looks forward to going into shops and trying on colourful clothes.
She’s even started helping out at the West Derby Slimming World and inspiring other slimmers to follow her lead.
The 45-year-old super slimmer made it to the finals of Slimming World’s Woman of the Year 2016 competition and even got to meet Olympic swimmer Mark Foster as part of a competition to find the UK and Ireland’s top female slimmers.
