Welbeck's crocked, Coquelin's grumpy and Santi's short: 7 lessons from Arsenal's new team photo

Take a closer look at The Arsenal's official team photo for 2016/17 and you start to notice some things…
The Arsenal 16/17
Traditional team photos are often pretty straightforward, routine images.
The manager sits in the centre. The tall guys go at the back. The more famous players sit at the front, with their hands awkwardly placed on their knees.
Simple.
However, in some cases, a slightly closer inspection of a squad picture can reveal a lot more than you might think.
Take the official Arsenal2016/17 image that has just been released by The Gunners. At first glance, there's not much that looks out of place. But look again and there are several interesting points to note…
1. Danny Welbeck is wearing trainers
oh Danny!
If the poor lad can't even get his boots on for this, just how long will it be before the eternally crocked striker returns from injury?
2. Santi Cazorla's size wil never stop being amusing you
Santi
Yes, we've all laughed at the fact Santi Cazorla is short. Even Santi Cazorla has laughed at the fact himself.

But even if the gag is as old as the hills, there's a reason the photographer at Arsenal sat little Santi next to Per Mertesacker, Arsenal's resident oak tree.
Because Santi Cazorla being short is STILL funny - even when he's doing brilliant stuff like this:

3. Aaron Ramsey is the only Gunner with acceptable taste in football boots
Aaron Ramsey
Black boots are the mark of a proper footballer; the mark of a player who doesn't need luminous yellow footwear to tell the world he's got abililty.
So a big thumbs-up to Aaron Ramsey, for being the ONLY player in the Gunners' front row who is NOT wearing boots you can see from space. Ironic that it should be the Welshman going for understated, given that blond hairdo…
4. Francis Coquelin REALLY wanted to be in the front row
Francis Coquelin
Look at that face.
Arsene Wenger's midfield terrier looks more like a bulldog chewing a wasp.

Clearly, Monsieur Coquelin was not terribly impressed with being made to stand on the end of the middle row.
Cheer up, Francis. At least you got a better spot than Kieran Gibbs.
5. David Ospina is oddly short for a keeper
David Ospina
OK, Petr Cech is a giant of a man, standing an enormous 6ft 5ins. It's no wonder Ospina looks a little small stood next to his fellow Arsenal goalkeeper.
But aren't ALL keepers meant to be massive these days?
6. Is it just us, or does Laurent Koscielny have oddly skinny ankles?
Laurient Koscielny
Given Arsenal's record with ankle injuries in recent years, this could be a cause for concern…
7. Carl Jenkinson is still an Arsenal player
Jenks
He hasn't played for his beloved Arsenal since April 2014 (largely thanks to a West Ham loan and a serious injury), so this is a timely reminder that The Gunners' own Archbishop of Banterbury is still on the books at The Emirates.
(Sorry Jenks).
